Just a door

Okay, so I offered to be in charge of decorating Sabrina's 1st grade teachers door for teacher appreciation week. My friend, who is the room mom, does so much and I thought I would help her out. Now those of you who know me well know that I am not a creative or artsy person. In fact when I do anything that requires creativity or any sort of art it gives me major anxiety. I love the idea of it or looking for ideas but when it comes to actually doing it, it takes me FOREVER because everything has to be lined up/even/balanced/symmetrical (you get what I mean?). So here is the end product. I am sure some of my fellow friends could have thrown this together easily and quickly and it would have looked fabulous if not better. I bet you wouldn't believe how much time I spent deciding on the idea, planning, gathering materials, and actually putting it together. If you really knew you would NOT JUST THINK I was crazy, you WOULD KNOW I was crazy. You probably can't see the details very well but each of the flower petals has something written to Mrs. Stock from each of her students and in the middle is a class picture.

That is so stinkin' cute! And I can only imagine the time it took to get all the quotes from the kids. What a lucky teacher!!! Someone is decorating Aubrey's teacher's door today, but the other teacher is out of luck. Ha!

I'm with Laura, I dread this week.

Very nice! It looks great. I love that each of the petals have a personal message-that is a sweet idea.

You crack me up. You act like I do when I am asked to do something left-brainedish...I PANIC! I was asked to do be the room parent coordinator for grades K-2nd this past year for PTA. When the former coordinator dropped off the stuff at my house (which was a bundle of paperwork and organizational yuck) I seriously just about had a panic attack going through it! It just looked like a bunch of chicken scratches! So in other words, I feel your pain. You did great though. I am sure the teacher loved it.

It looks great and I know her teacher appreciated it. Getting my door decorated every year was one of my favorite things that happened as a teacher...because of creative parents like you!

that turned out so cute - if I have something like that to do I always stress about it in the back of my mind, but then don't do anything until too late to do anything really thoughtful - now I know who to call if I have to do it!
