Joy, Relaxation, Beauty....

This last week we celebrated the end of medical school and residency by taking a family trip to Hawaii. Throughout the week there were several words that came to mind. The trip can be simply described as "Pure Joy."

We had a fabulous time as a family. Though there were a few, well maybe more, questions about what we were thinking about bringing Camille. These thoughts often occurred during the long flights and in the middle of the night.

We were so lucky to have gotten reservations for Barbers Point military cottages on Oahu. It was a great deal and the place was huge!!!! Not only are there perks to being in the military (i.e. discounts and deals) but the appreciation of the Hawaiian people and airlines was very touching.

We had a fun filled week but best of all our cottage was steps from the ocean. I love hearing the waves in the background, feeling the ocean air, and seeing the beautiful sunsets. Time was spent on the sand, in the ocean boogie boarding and snorkeling, eating yummy seafood, swimming, sight seeing, the pineapple plantation, checking out local farmers markets, going to a luau, eating lots of pineapple and coconuts, and good ole family time.

The one thing Kenzie wanted to do was to drink from a coconut. She found out she was not a fan of coconut milk :)

Sabrina loved snorkeling. We were so proud of how brave and adventurous she was this whole week.

Jordan followed the directions of the "cousins" at the luau and broke open a coconut for the girls to have their nightly fruit plate in. You go Daddy! Next challenge...how to get the coconut meat out of the broken coconut :)

I am so grateful we splurged and took this trip. I know our credit cards even had a good time. :)
