I can not believe my Mackenzie Grace is turning 4. She was born on August 25, 2005 at 1:20am in Burlington, Vermont.
Sabrina came with us for the ultrasound to find out what we were having. The doctor said, "I see a hamburger. Its a girl." Sabrina, who was 3, look concerned and asked, "You have a hamburger in your tummy? I thought it was a baby?" It was hilarious.
Mackenzie's pregnancy was full of anxiety of the unknown. She had a positive quad marker test and then they found an abnormality in her brain during the in depth ultrasound after the results. We did not go on to have the amnio. The doctor did say that if he could predict anything, he would say that she would be quite a stubborn baby. After hours, she refused to show anything during the ultrasounds. The doctor was correct, she was and is a stubborn child.
I still feel horrible for the first thing I asked when she was born. Is she okay? She was, but for the first year I still wondered. Lets just say I declined the quad marker with Camille's pregnancy.
Mackenzie has brought so many smiles and tons of laughter to our family. Mackenzie is a girly girl and so different from her older sister. She is very sensitive and aware. She is often full of compliments.
We love you Mackenzie.
At midnight on the 25th, we went outside to head to the hospital and this is what our car looked like. As I was in active labor we had to clean off the toilet paper so that we could at least drive. Those silly YW. Love those girls.
This was my awesome midwife who met us at the hospital and hung out to chat while I was in labor.
Our baby Mackenzie was a healthy 7lbs 14 ounces and 20.5 inches long
Big sister, Sabrina, was so excited to meet her little sister. It took some time for her to get over that she was not having a brother. She really wanted a brother.

I love the way you write. She's beautiful, and if she turns out stubborn AND tacky ... well, at least she was a cute child! Ha, ha!!!
What a great birthday post! I loved seeing all the pictures. Sabrina's story reminds me of the time Ryan told our friends at church that he didn't get any presents for Christmas. We got some concerned phone calls!
Happy Birthday, Kenz! I'm sure everyone was relieved to hear her real name. Kids get really interesting names sometimes and you can't always tell. Thank goodness you got to do the naming!
Happy Birthday Kenzie!!
As I was looking at your pics I noticed your nurse... ILENE! She is my neighbor... she was also my nurse for Erin- she saved her life. It's fun to have that connection with you :)
Miss you!!!!!
I didn't realize that Kenzie and London shared a birthday. Happy Birthday Kenzie!!!
