Jordan's New Home...oops...I mean Job

U.S.S. New Orleans
The official orders are in. Jordan finishes his Internal Medicine residency at the end of June. Yippee!!!! Now he begins repaying the navy for his schooling and residency. He will be stationed on the U.S.S. New Orleans as their medical doctor for 2 years. The New Orleans is an LPD 18 (I have no idea what that means) and has a crew of 361 (28 officers, 333 enlisted). It is a new ship, commissioned in 2007. Jordan is really excited about the modern medical facilities on the ship. It is docked in San Diego, which means that the girls and I will stay put. He will come and go from the ship while it is docked. He will for sure deploy with it for 7-8 months sometimes during the 2 years. There will probably also be some 1-3 month assignments away at sea. We are grateful that we finally have orders in hand.

Oh Wow! That is exciting! Being a "single mom" for those months will be hard but I suppose it will also make your time together even better too. When does he go? If you find yourself needing a change of scenery during the summer, your always welcome to come hang out up here :)

congrats to Jordan and you guys - glad you get to stay put.

I'm sure those deployment months will be hard, I have seen my sister go through it, but I know you are amazing so it'll be like nothing :).

Your family is so lovely Jessica.

It would be fun to get together next time you guys visit Albany, Corvallis is just not that far away and we go fairly often to visit Sam's family.

Yay! It's always so scary until you actually have those orders in hand. We got ours... he'll be back at Balboa for sure on 1 July! And we'll go back to never seeing him... again!
Congratulations! I hear it's a VERY nice ship!
