Let it Snow

This last week Sabrina was off of school for a week and Jordan took his last bit of time off until July so we decided to go up to Big Bear and play in the snow. This is where I used to ski when I was growing up. I have officially come to realize that I prefer to live where it gets cold in the winter, not 6 months of winter, but just not as warm as it is in southern CA. Here are a few pictures of our trip. There will be more to come since this is only from one of the cameras.

I'll begin with the joy of putting on chains. Jordan was to thrilled with me taking this picture. Jordan and I could not believe we had to go buy chains to go to the snow since we never had to put them on the whole 4 years we were in Vermont. Can I just say that finding snow gear, chains, etc in San Diego is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE. We are glad we bought the chains before heading up the mountain because there sure was a lot of snow. We were so proud of Jordan for putting them all on himself. Look it how prepared he was, he even brought a tarp so that he wouldn't get all dirty. You rock!

Sabrina really wanted to stay somewhere with a fireplace. So we found a hotel with fireplaces in the room.

Sabrina really, really misses Vermont. You would have thought she was in heaven when we got to the snow. She just loves to play in it, roll around in it, climb snow piles, sled, etc.

So I'm a bit embarrassed to say we paid money to go to a sledding hill. I guess only in Southern California :) Well I guess it was more like an inner tubing hill. The girls had a blast. I was really surprised they weren't scared going down the hills.
For the first part of the day Jordan took the girls up and down the hill while I stayed down with Camille. The plan was for me to just stay with Camille while Jordan and the girls inner tubed. For a few hours I sat and watched and found myself getting a little resentful. I really wanted to go play but didn't want to pay. Well it was like a kid in a candy store. I just had to go play. So Jordan and I switched off. Jordan didn't just want to sit at the bottom of the hill he wanted to hang out close to us while holding Camille. Here he is sitting in an inner tube with Camille wrapped up in his arms. Later in the day the girls wanted to play in the snow. Here they are hiding from one another while waiting to attack.

That looks so fun! Isn't crazy how much they love the snow? Your girls look like they are in heaven.

So much fun!! Mark won't pay to play in the snow so we end up driving up and down random streets till we find a clearing to play in. It takes a while, but well worth seeing the kids ecstatic faces :)

Oh... these pictures make me MISS the snow and all the fun you can have next to a warm fire with some yummy hot chocolate!
Glad you had a good time! I can't believe you needed chains, either! The means that I will, too, if ever I attempt to take the mommy van somewhere like that! Lovely! I MISS MY JEEP!!!!!
We haven't talked lately...
I'll call you! Or you call me!
Miss you!

You PAID for a sledding hill!!!??? Actually I am totally laughing because you can go up Mt Hood here and do the same thing. And my kids would be all over it as well! :) Funny how we tended to curse the snow in Vermont, only to miss it after leaving.
