Tonight we went to Souplantation for dinner. We were sitting there eating, Jordan holding Camille on his lap and a man who was sitting near us got up to go get more food and as he was walking by he kind of asked and stated at the same time, "Military family.?" Jordan looked down at what he was wearing thinking maybe he was wearing something from work, but he was not. Jordan nodded, said yes, and smiled. We looked over at his wife and smiled and she said, "He served in Vietnam and can just tell military when he sees it." We continued eating and did not think anything of it. About 15-20 minutes later, an employee walked up to our table and put a gift card envelope on the table and quickly said, "A customer who left asked me to give this to you." Puzzled we looked around and asked if she was sure it was meant for us. She said she was positive and quickly left. Hesitantly, I opened the envelope and it was a $50 Souplantation gift card. I was shocked. Was this a joke? Who would do that? Is it someone we know? Still stunned Jordan called the employee over to the table and asked if she made a mistake. She quickly said, "No, I am positive it was to be given to you." Okay, interesting. Was this one of the pay it forward moments you hear about. So Jordan and I started talking and then I looked over to where the man we talked to earlier was sitting and he was not there. I asked Jordan, "Do you think it could have been that nice man?" I asked Jordan to go over to the man and ask. He did not know what to say to the man without being totally awkward and embarrassing. As he was waiting for the man to come back to the table. We noticed the man was talking to the employee. Mind you it is totally busy at the restaraunt. So Jordan went up to the man and employee and nicely said, "Was there a mistake? Did you mean to give this to someone else?" The man said, "No, no mistake. I am invisible. It was supposed to be given to you as you left. I am just an American who appreciates what you do for our country." Jordan, moved, said, "Thank you sir." The man said, "Thank YOU sir." Jordan came back and sat down and I looked over at the man with teary eyes and a thankful smile and he gestured, "Ssshhh, and smiled." As we walked to the car, I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I began bawling . I will never forget this man and his selfless, generous act to perfect strangers. He did more than give a $50 gift card. He reminded me what good there is in people, the sacrifice that was made by those who served in Vietnam, and many more lessons. I promised myself that we will one day pass this gesture on. This was just such a neat experience I just had to share it.On another side note, to stop myself from crying I tend to be sarcastic. So I said to Jordan, "Do I already look that worn down. You have not even been deployed yet. Is that how he could tell we were military? Or was it that you just shaved your head tonight." Either way, I am grateful to this kind, kind man and his wife.

That is an amazing story!
It's great to hear that there are still good people around giving back to those who deserve it!
What a wonderful story and one to remember for the rest of your lives. That is great and I myself am getting teary eyed.
Wow! That is a sweet story! It's good to know that there are people who still appreciate the sacrifices made by military families.
Last month, I went to the symphony and they opened with a salute to the military. They played all the military anthems and asked members to stand at the appropriate time. I was in tears the whole way through!
Thank you for sharing that great story with us!
How nice. It's true... we are all so thankful to our service people. I can't imagine my husband ever being away so much. Hats off to you for your bravery, Jessica.

That is just an amazing story! One you will never forget. I can't imagine the stress and worry, not to mention time, the military demands from a family. It is comforting to know there are people out there making a difference. That man made a difference in your families life but also all those who heard what he did, it is inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
So glad to know you have a blog? I am a huge fan of soup plantation. Anyway, we haven't seen you guys in a while! We need to get together!
I'll admit I cry a lot right now, but that story brought me to tears, too - it's just nice to hear about somebody showing kindness and appreciation for someone in the military, but most importantly just for someone they don't even know and actually doing something about it!
That's a pretty special experience! Thanks for sharing.
What a sweet story, thanks for sharing!
What a great story. Thanks for sharing. I think that maybe this is one of those stories that will be in your background for when you will really need to use it for strength. Don't you just love the Lord for creating such wonderful human beings!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
What a great story! It makes me realize that you never know who is noticing you. It's so great that people are so generous and really appreciate what military families go through. I can't imagine what it would be like to do what you guys are doing!
