I can not believe my baby turned 7 today. Sabrina Melody was born on December 20, 2001 at 2:25 am weighing 6lbs 15ozs and 19 inches long. She was about 3 weeks early. My due date was January 5th. She was our surprise Christmas present. I was teaching at CSUN as a graduate student and had just turned in my finals and finished grades. That night I woke up and thought I had wet the bed. No gush of fluid though. The next day I tried to get last minute Christmas shopping done and felt like I kept leaking pee after going to the bathroom. This was my first pregnancy and I had no idea if this was normal or not. The following day I had a doctors appointment and they asked how long I had been leaking amniotic fluid. They were not to happy when I said "a few days." So they admitted me to the hospital at 11am and started labor. At about 2 am I pushed for about 20 minutes and out came our beautiful firstborn baby girl. It was love at first sight. I was overwhelmed with such immense love. I remember thinking if I had one wish for her it would be that she would be a happy person. Sabrina was a very sleepy, lethargic baby. She was extremely jaundice and did not want to latch on and eat. She had to stay in the hospital for a few extra days laying under the billy lights. At about 6 weeks she got the hang of eating. Sabrina was known for her projectile spitup. We called her the happy spitter upper. She would be smiling and give you no warning that she was going to soak herself and you with spitup.
Oh it makes me so sad to think that she is growing up so fast. Sabrina and I have that special mother daughter bond. It was just her and I at home for almost 4 years before Mackenzie was born. Sabrina is the first grandchild on my side of the family. She is the one who named my parents GaGa and Papa. Sabrina has such an amazing imagination and can entertain herself at anytime, anywhere. When she was little she had an imaginary friend named "Peeny." She is such a great big sister.

One of our birthday traditions is to have a Mickey Mouse Waffle with a candle for breakfast.

jessica, i didn't know you guys had a blog!!! even though we only live 40 minutes from you guys we never see you and vice versa. good to see how things are.
Sabrina is such a beautiful girl! Other than the spit-up stories, that was a great stroll down memory lane. Ha! We're glad she's in Jon's class, otherwise the boy power would be horrible.
