10 years, can you believe it?

I bet you can't guess what we did for our 10 year anniversary. Okay, maybe you can. We went on a 7 day cruise to Cabo, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallerta on Royal Caribbeans Mariner of the Seas. We have never been away from the girls for this long but we knew that they would be well taken care of by my mom. Thank you mom.
Here we are leaving the Port of Los Angeles. Isn't it beautiful. Uhh, not.
So after we got on the ship and got settled we decided to explore. We started with the bathroom.

Then we met some fellow passengers.
So those of you who have been on a cruise probably already know this upcoming bit of info. So on Monday Jordan and I were in one of the 8 elevators on the ship. I looked down and saw a sign that said Monday. As we were leaving I verbally wondered if each elevator was named a certain day of the week. So later that day we took another elevator and it also had Monday on the carpet. Well, it took us until Tuesday to realize that they change the carpet for each day of the week in each elevator. Hmmm, you learn something new everyday. So the reason the picture is of Wednesday is because it took us until Wednesday to laugh at ourselves for not figuring it out sooner.

We were so lucky to have a great waiter named Ernie. He was from Jamaica and kept us laughing.
We met some neat friends who we shared a table with for dinner each night. We actually spent a lot of time with them.
This is Nancy and Al (his real name is Elmo). They are 75+ with great grandkids. I can only hope I am as active and with it as Nancy and Al. The are probably more physically active than most 20 year olds and they wooped our butts in Scrabble and stayed up later than we did.
Our other new friends were Tony and Heidi which we also shared a table with. They live in Scotland and were so much fun. Can you believe they have kids my age and grandkids the age of our girls? Heidi reminded me of my mom; old (just kidding mom) but looks young and full of energy. We came home with a new pen pal for Sabrina, one of their grandkids. The third night Heidi with her Scottish accent told Jordan that he reminded her of Superman wearing his suit and glasses. We had a good chuckle.

We were really excited about the rock wall. When Jordan and I were dating I used to belay for a tower course. I felt confident that I still had my skills. Umm, well that was until I realized it had been 8 years since I climbed.

Jordan went first and quickly climbed up numerous times making it look like a piece of cake. Later I was reminded at how Jordan surprises me and most people with his ability to do pretty much most sports and musical things really well, even if he has never done it before. This was something that really irked me while we were dating. If I recall we pretty much tried every sport together so I could beat him at least once. It didn't happen. That is when I knew it was love. Just kidding.

WARNING, WARNING, THE NEXT PICTURE WILL BE DISTURBING FOR MOST READERS.

Those of you that know me well, know that I dislike people taking pictures of me. Well, I asked Jordan to take a picture of me climbing so that we could show the girls. After I was done I asked him if he got a picture. He thought it was great. Well, this is what I saw. Thanks Jordan, like I need to be reminded of how BIG my butt is. And this was the only shot. Lovely.

No, this next picture is not an audition for a Coca-Cola commercial. I was unable to sustain my Diet Coke habit during the cruise because my logical side could not bring myself to pay over $2 for a can or buy a soda package for $50 for the week. So basically when we got off at our first stop in Cabo I quickly bought a soda. Well, they call it Coca-Cola light and I can tell you that it is NOT the same as Diet Coke. Yuck!!!
I thought for sure that I would have gotten over withdrawals side effects by the time the cruise was over and then not need my daily 79 cent diet coke. Let's just say I was very wrong.
Just a little note... this is yet again another red flag of my addiction....when you spend a good part of your blog post talking about Diet Coke, let alone take a picture with one like it is a baby or something.
By far, Puerto Vallerta was our favorite port. And no it is not because of Walmart. Well, maybe it is. We enjoyed a nice stroll through the air conditioned Walmart and bought some gum.

Exploring El Centro for unique one of a kind handmade souvenirs. Jordan and I are pretty sure most of this stuff was probably made in China since it is the exact same thing at every shop in every port.

Last, but not least, a major part of our vacation. When you spend more money on onboard Internet service than souvenirs and buy a $4 juice at Starbucks in order to use the Internet it is probably not a vacation from an online teaching job. Ahhh, I will stop there before I write something I regret.

We had such a good time and are so glad we went away. Happy 10th Anniversary Jordan.

I LOVED reading about your cruise. Congrats on year #10! Woo-Hoo! I laughed pretty hardily at... well... EVERYTHING you wrote. BTW- you do NOT have a big butt, you silly, skinny girl :).

Maybe one day we can plan a cruise together. Wouldn't that be awesome!

What a great time! And happy anniversary! I was totally laughing at the internet comment about teaching online. I SO know what you mean. On our cruise last year was the only time in 6+ years of teaching online that I have completely unplugged for a week and just walked away. It was awesome. :)

I buckled and bought the soda card. It was worth every penny.(sorry!) I drank even more soda than usual because I was determined to get my $40 worth. It's sick, I know. I think I want to go on a cruise with you guys, it looks like fun. Maybe when we're all grown up and have grandkids we should organize a big group to go. (sorry I didn't even ask you how your trip was today-I'm so lamE!!)

So glad you posted. Loved the comments, and seeing you and Jordan just enjoying each other. Ha! That climbing picture was awesome. If it helps any, I was thinking how thin you looked in all your pictures and check out your leg in the climbing one. Nice muscle. You worry too much, girlie. I so want to do a cruise. Ummm, is your mom for rent? :)
